A Probably Typical Cooking Lesson by Siddharth Dani

Butter Chicken!
Corinne, Jesse and I asked the Great Cook Siddharth Dani
to teach us how to make this wonderful Indian dish.

It requires Chicken, he says.

You have to take off all the skin and fat. You get grossed out by that because you're already on your way to being a vegetarian so you make Siddharth do it.

Put the chicken in something to mix, he says.

Add Ginger and Garlic paste. Mmm...garlic paste.

Siddharth becomes unsure about next step.

Checks the youtube video on his laptop in the corner.

(What??? This isn't a time tested family recipe???)

Add coriander powder.

Have Siddharth mush it around for you.

Not sure what this was...maybe pepper, I wasn't paying attention.

Did I mention I'm cutting down on meat?

What now, I say. You cook it, he says.

Ooooh.

Add 3/4 of the onions you had Siddharth chop in the liquid that the chicken was in.

Add this stuff...in some amount.

You then get Siddharth so annoyed with your incessant questions and picture taking that you're asked to leave the kitchen.

And voilà! Some light chatting in the other room and you can come back
and get your butter chicken! Amazing and so easy!
